Join New Classics Ballet Theatre

Thank you for joining us at auditions for NCBT’s 2026 Christmas Production!

This production will invite audiences to discover the untold story of where Drosselmeyer got his magic, and how the Nutcracker Toy Soldier first came to life in this magical new ballet, featuring an original score. This prequel to the Nutcracker is an enchanting tale you have not yet heard, and a production you will never forget.

At NCBT, our mission is to keep ballet alive by presenting new, full-length story ballets. We are committed to preserving the integrity of classical technique while opening the stage to new voices, fresh narratives, and the next generation of artists. We believe ballet should inspire, captivate, and welcome audiences of all ages.

  • Female-identifying dancers:

    • Solid colored leotard and tights

    • Ballet skirt optional

    • Warm-ups may be worn for barre only

    • Ballet flats required for barre

    • Pointe shoes required for center work

    Male-identifying dancers:

    • Ballet tights

    • Form-fitting shirt

    • Ballet flats

    • Warm-ups may be worn for barre only

  • Casting decisions will be communicated to all auditioning dancers on or before Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

  • The audition fee is $15 for in-person auditions and $10 for online video submissions.

    Audition fees help offset the costs associated with the audition process, including studio rental and administrative expenses.

    Payment must be submitted prior to the audition whenever possible. For in-person auditions, payment may also be made at check-in via cash, Zelle, or Venmo.

  • We are accepting online audition submissions until 5pm PST on July 13th.

  • Rehearsals will generally take place on Wednesday evenings (approximately 6:00–9:00 PM) and Saturday evenings (approximately 4:00–9:00 PM).

    Rehearsals begin August 1 and the performances will be held December 4-6.

    Dancers cast in the production will receive a detailed rehearsal schedule following casting and contract signing. Not all dancers will be called for every rehearsal, and rehearsal times will vary based on role, casting, and production needs.

    Rehearsal locations are still being finalized and may be in either Orange County or Los Angeles, depending on casting and studio availability.

  • Yes. NCBT intends to provide dancer stipends for this production. As a young and growing company, compensation is currently modest and is determined by the production budget and fundraising efforts. Final stipend amounts will be communicated to dancers prior to contract signing.

    Dancers who choose to work with NCBT do so not only for compensation, but also for the opportunity to perform in original works, contribute to the creation of new story ballets, and be part of a positive and collaborative artistic community.

  • NCBT is passionate about creating new, original story ballets that honor the traditions of classical ballet while bringing fresh stories to the stage. Dancers in this production will perform in a brand-new ballet set to an original musical score and help share NCBT’s mission of making classical ballet welcoming, inspiring, and accessible to new audiences.
